Role Overview:
This role supports the Head of Finance and Risk in managing and maturing the organization's risk, assurance, and business continuity frameworks. Working across all functions, the position combines hands-on operational delivery with cross-functional influence — embedding a strong risk culture, leading the internal assurance program, and ensuring the organization is prepared to respond to disruption. The ideal candidate is analytical, self-driven, and equally comfortable collaborating across teams and operating independently in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

This is a hybrid role; 3 days in the Sydney office.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Management Operations
Support the development of a risk management culture
Support executives and functional teams throughout the business to maintain and update the organizational risk register
Lead training for employees throughout the organization on risk, including establishing and leading a cross-functional team of risk champions.
Analyse environments to discover, assess, and document emerging risks
Assist in developing controls and mitigation plans, and track implementation progress
Conduct root-cause analysis and identify control improvement opportunities
Undertake systematic challenge, review, and validation of control effectiveness
Maintain Key Risk Indicators for functional teams
Prepare regular risk updates and stakeholder reports
Provide risk management input and support to operations and business initiatives
Business Continuity
Manage day-to-day Business Continuity Management efforts, including plan maintenance and testing
Support the operation of the Crisis Management Team including co-ordination of regular simulations
Coordinate BCP updates across functional teams and lead the development and maintenance of Business Impact Analysis plans
Assurance
Design and lead the annual internal assurance program, scoping reviews aligned to the organizational risk profile
Conduct end-to-end assurance engagements — from planning and fieldwork through to reporting and remediation tracking
Build and maintain the controls testing framework, ensuring coverage of key financial, operational, and compliance controls
Own the management of audit findings and drive remediation actions through to verified closure
Insurance Administration
Coordinate the annual insurance renewal process, including data collection and documentation
Liaise with insurance brokers for day-to-day requirements such as certificates of currency
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience in a risk or audit function, ideally within a technology, software, or mid-sized company - or in assurance/audit at a professional services firm
Strong project and time management skills; able to juggle multiple deadlines and deliver independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong analytical capability and comfort managing high volumes of information
Takes ownership and initiative; comfortable operating without close direction
Collaborative and influential across cross-functional teams and multiple time zones
Willing to roll up their sleeves, learn on the job, and problem-solve pragmatically
Open to using AI tools to work more efficiently
