AI Enablement Builder
We're on a mission to be a Force For Good, through our People, Products and Purpose at Nuix. This extends to our People. We're fiercely passionate, love working at pace, thrive in ambiguity, live, and breathe outside of the box, and above all are good humans. We're determined to make a positive difference in the world, whether through our solutions which help the top companies, governments and agencies find the truth and combat illegal activities, or through our people who care about contributing and giving back both within, and outside, of Nuix. We are a Force For Good. We're selective about who comes on board, and you should be too. But if the above sounds like a match, get in touch today and get ready for the possibility of starting a once-in-a-career journey.
Role Overview:
Nuix is building a dedicated internal AI capability to close the gap between AI promise and P&L impact. The AI Enablement Builder is a collaborativeindividual contributor who embeds directly into priority business functions, to design, build and release production-grade AI solutionsthat transform the way the function works. This is not a pure consulting or advisory role: it is a hands-on engineering position whose output is working software in production, not decks or recommendations.
The successful candidate is equally fluent in AI tooling and in business process, capable of translating a vague operational problem into a structured, production-ready solution within a short rotation. They bring the engineering discipline to own an outcome from scoping through to post-launch monitoring, and the communication skills to operate credibly alongside functional leaders without requiring close technical supervision.
Location:
This position will be based in our Sydney office. The candidate is required to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week but may voluntarily elect to work either remotely or from the Sydney office for the remaining 2 days of the week.
Key Responsibilities
Embed within assigned business functions for rotation periods of three to six months, diagnosing high-value AI opportunities and converting them into production solutions. In practice, this means conducting structured discovery with functional stakeholders, mapping current-state workflows, and scoping use cases tied directly to each function's AI enablement targets.
Design, build and deploy end-to-end AI workflows, automations and agentic systems that operate in Nuix's live internal environment. Solutions may include LLM-powered document processing, RAG pipelines over internal knowledge bases, multi-step agentic workflows, reusable Nuix Neo "skill" filesor API integrations connecting Nuix's core data systems.
Own the full delivery lifecycle for each use case, from initial scoping through production deployment, monitoring and iteration. This includes writing evaluation harnesses, instrumenting observability, debugging production failures and iterating based on measured outcomes - not filing tickets for others to resolve.
Maintain POC discipline, rapidly validating feasibility against real internal data before committing to full build. POCs are time-boxed and exit-criteria-driven; the Builder is accountable for recommending build, pause or abandon based on evidence rather than enthusiasm.
Synthesise patterns from each embedded rotation and contribute structured findings to Nuix's internal AI knowledge base and programme roadmap. Reusable components, prompt templates, integration patterns and lessons learned are documented and shared across the AI Builder cohort to accelerate subsequent rotations.
Act as a credible technical peer to function leads and the broader Champion network of AI Advocates and Data Curators, translating business requirements into engineering specifications and communicating progress in plain language. This includes supporting global AI Innovation Days, presenting outcomes to functional ELT stakeholders and contributing to the mid-rotation review process, with results reported against agreed AI enablement ROI and workflow metrics.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Demonstrated experience building and shipping production AI systems in an enterprise environment, with Python as the primary language. Candidates must show a track record of use cases that moved from scoping to production(not POC libraries)including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows or LLM integrations against real business data.
Applied AI fluency across the core technical stack: LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, agent orchestration, MCP-based tool integration, evaluation frameworks and deployment across cloud, frontier and local/open-source models. This is not a research background; the requirement is production fluency, knowing when to use which approach, how to evaluate outputs reliably and how to manage token cost and latency in live systems.
Strong business process acumen, with the ability to diagnose a functional workflow problem, impose structure on an ambiguous brief and translate it into a technically tractable specification. The role sits at the intersection of engineering and light-touch consulting; candidates who can only operate with a fully scoped brief will not succeed in embedded rotation environments.
A minimum of five years of software engineering or applied AI experience, with at least two years in a role requiring direct collaboration with non-technical business stakeholders. Relevant backgrounds include forward deployed engineering, solutions architecture, internal tools engineering or applied AI roles in enterprise software, data intelligence, legal tech or adjacent domains.
Desired Expertise:
Exposure to eDiscovery, investigative analytics, legal technology or regulated-data environments. Familiarity with the data sensitivity, chain-of-custody requirements and compliance constraints typical of Nuix's core market will shorten ramp time significantly in Legal and Investigations rotations.
Experience in a structured embedded or rotation-based deployment model, such as an internal centres-of-excellence, tiger team or forward-deployed engineering function. Candidates who have navigated the stakeholder dynamics, context-switching demands and knowledge-transfer obligations of time-bound embedded assignments will adapt most readily to the Nuix AI Builder model.
