Product Manager
We're on a mission to be a Force For Good, through our People, Products and Purpose at Nuix. Nuix is one of the greatest comeback Technology success stories in Australia, and we're making massive waves each day. Nuix is, and will be, a pioneer in the Australian Technology space, and we're carrying the torch on what "good" looks like.
This extends to our People. We're fiercely passionate, love working at pace, thrive in ambiguity, live, and breathe outside of the box, and above all are good humans. Our impact extends outside of our 9-5, and our place in society isn't always defined by corporate metrics. We're determined to make a positive difference in the world, whether through our solutions which help the top companies, governments and agencies find the truth and combat illegal activities, or through our people who care about contributing and giving back both within, and outside, of Nuix. We are a Force For Good.
We're selective about who comes on board, and you should be too. But if the above sounds like a match, get in touch today and get ready for the possibility of starting a once-in-a-career journey.
Role Overview:
Nuix is looking for a Product Manager who can own the end-to-end success of a product area — from discovery through delivery and go-to-market. Reporting to the General Manager of Product, you will deeply understand customers, ship high-quality software, and drive commercial outcomes. This role spans the full product lifecycle: upstream work (customer insight, opportunity analysis, strategy) and downstream execution (delivery, launch, measurement & iteration).
We’re building a product team that’s as strong in discovery as it is in delivery. You’ll be expected to run discovery with customers, make data-driven prioritisation decisions, test hypotheses before committing engineering effort, and own the commercial performance of what you ship. You’ll bring an informed perspective on AI-native practices and work with Engineering and Architecture to ensure AI thinking is woven into day-to-day product decisions, not bolted on after the fact.
Domain expertise in Investigations, Information/Data Governance, Forensic Investigations, eDiscovery, or cybersecurity is highly valued. You’ll act as a credible voice with customers and cross-functional teams who live in these worlds daily.
Location:
This position will be based in our Sydney office. The candidate is required to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week but may voluntarily elect to work either remotely or from the Sydney office for the remaining days of the week.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities are organised across the full product management capability spectrum. You’ll be expected to exercise all of these muscles, not just the delivery ones.
Vision & Strategy
• Contribute to shaping a compelling product vision, ensuring alignment with Nuix’s platform strategy and business objectives.
• Conduct continuous market research, competitive analysis, and customer discovery to identify trends, unmet needs, and opportunities for differentiation.
• Translate market signals, customer data, and technical capabilities into an outcome-based product roadmap that drives acquisition, activation, and monetisation.
• Understand and contribute a clear product strategy that makes explicit trade-offs - what you will and won’t do - and communicates the rationale to stakeholders.
Customer Insight & Discovery
• Run discovery: maintain a cadence of customer and user touchpoints through interviews, usability sessions, sales call shadowing, win/loss reviews, and support escalation analysis.
• Define and track key product metrics (adoption, engagement, retention, NPS) and use data to inform prioritisation, validate hypotheses, and measure outcomes - not just outputs.
• Design and run lightweight experiments and hypothesis tests before committing significant engineering effort. Challenge assumptions with evidence, not opinion.
• Partner closely with Product Design to prototype, test, and iterate on solutions. Bring design in early, not after the spec is written.
Product Delivery
• Own prioritisation and trade-off decisions for your product area, balancing new capability, technical debt, platform stability, and customer commitments.
• Write clear, machine-readable product artefacts (PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria) and leverage AI-augmented tools to accelerate artefact creation and delivery.
• Drive agile and lean delivery practices within your scrum team(s) - standups, refinements, planning, retros - with a focus on outcomes, not ceremony.
• Maintain strong technology and architecture awareness: understand the platform deeply enough to have credible conversations with engineers and make informed trade-offs.
• Build AI and data product literacy - understand how AI capabilities, data pipelines, and analytics underpin Nuix’s product value and stay across the evolving landscape of AI-native development practices.
Lifecycle, Growth & Go-to-Market
• Own your product area’s value proposition and contribute to pricing and packaging decisions. Articulate why customers should choose Nuix over alternatives.
• Drive launch and go-to-market execution for releases: coordinate cross-functional activities across marketing, sales enablement, support, documentation, and legal.
• Ensure operational readiness for every release - enablement content, deployment guides, support training, and customer success hand-off are done before GA, not after.
• Champion responsible product practices: ensure compliance, trust, security, and data governance considerations are embedded in product decisions from the start.
Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as the bridge between Engineering/Architecture and Go-to-Market teams, ensuring smooth commercial launches and clear product enablement.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and industry experts. Incorporate signal from the field into the product strategy.
• Communicate effectively across all levels - from sprint-level updates with your squad to strategic narratives for executive stakeholders.
• Contribute to building product team capability through peer learning, knowledge sharing, and coaching of more junior team members.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• 5+ years of experience in Product Management within a technical, data-intensive software environment.
• Demonstrated success shipping products in complex, enterprise-scale environments (e.g., big data, analytics, enterprise search, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or similar).
• Proven ability to run the full product lifecycle - not just the delivery half. You’ve done discovery, shaped strategy, launched products, and measured outcomes.
• Strong customer instinct backed by practice: you run discovery regularly, not when someone reminds you.
• Comfort with data - you define metrics, analyse usage, run experiments, and let evidence guide decisions.
• Experience with agile delivery methodologies and working in cross-functional squads with engineering and design.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across engineering, commercial, and executive audiences.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity - you thrive when the map is incomplete and build clarity through action, not process.
Desired Expertise:
• Background in one or more of: Investigations, Information/Data Governance, Forensic Investigations, eDiscovery, or cybersecurity.
• Experience with cloud computing, SaaS platforms, and API-driven product architectures.
• Hands-on experience building or shipping AI-native product capabilities - you’ve done it, not just overseen it.
• Experience contributing to pricing, packaging, and commercialisation strategies for enterprise SaaS.
• A technical background (Computer Science, Data Engineering, or equivalent practical experience - we care about what you’ve built, not what’s on your wall).
